Description
Our school has been regularly participating in the Erasmus+ program for years. Our 2023 individual mobility application, "Second language? First class idea!” continuation of our mobility tenders in 2019 and 2021.
A high-level knowledge of the English language is an essential condition for the English-Hungarian bilingual education. Active, up-to-date, communication-capable language skills are indispensable in the institution's everyday life, not only for teachers teaching target language classes, but also for colleagues teaching their subjects in Hungarian. Moreover, the school's non-teaching staff are also more and more often in a situation where they have to communicate in English. The learning opportunity provided by foreign English language courses is especially useful for them, since language skills develop best in an authentic environment. The methodological training of the colleagues who teach in the target language participating in the project helps to maintain a high standard of language education, since lifelong learning works well when our teachers participate in training that is useful and helps them in their careers. Success helps to prevent the burnout of those who have been working in the field for a long time. Another motivating force is that the recognition of our institution is growing with successful international projects.
Several of our currently applying colleagues have already participated in mobility projects, they used the good experiences of previous trainings and chose new courses adapted to their field of expertise. 8 of our colleagues - in line with institutional needs and expectations - take a language course to increase their knowledge and develop their foreign language competences. The use of a foreign language is closely related to their work, as we constantly have students of non-Hungarian origin, with whom and whose parents the language of communication is English.
A total of 17 of our colleagues are participating in the project, and our teachers and employees helping with educational work will increase their knowledge in the above courses and locations in 2023/2024. during the school year.
